The London Marathon and Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race on the River Thames are other important events which are held every year. 

   Cricket, is the sports homeland and the host to governing bodies International Cricket Council (ICC) and Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC). London has 2 of its famous cricket grounds Lord's in St John's Wood, and The Oval in Kennington.
